BC Live Spot Prawns Announces 2024 Season Details
Pre-order for Greater Vancouver Home Delivery or Buy Daily Catch at Ladner Wharf
Ladner, BC — BC Live Spot Prawns & Seafood is excited to announce that the 2024 live spot prawn season starts on May 17 and live spot prawns will be available at Ladner Wharf or Greater Vancouver home delivery throughout the season.
Based out of Ladner, BC Live Spot Prawns & Seafood (BCLSPS) provides the freshest, wild-caught seafood directly from fishermen to customers. Customers are guaranteed only sustainable, antibiotic-free and hormone-free live, fresh or frozen spot prawns, salmon, sablefish, lingcod, halibut, and more. Thousands of happy customers have bought live spot prawns from BCLSPS.
This year, customers can head to Ladner Wharf (5000 Elliott Street, Delta) starting May 17 to purchase live spot prawns. BCLSPS will open at 9am for pre-orders & 10am daily to the public. Limited quantities of live spot prawns will be available until sold out. Pre-orders will take first priority and the walk up line will be served on a first come, first served basis.
Alternatively, if customers would like to secure their live spot prawns in advance, they can visit the BCLSPS website at bclivespotprawns.com to place a pre-order for home delivery. Greater Vancouver home delivery for live spot prawns is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays until the end of the season. This year BCLSP is offering a special oxygenated + saltwater bag for all home deliveries that can keep the prawns alive up to 24 hours. This option is enticing for those that cannot make the drive to Ladner, or struggle to keep prawns alive even if they have time.
“Every year we have a lot of customers lining up at Ladner Wharf for live spot prawns,” says Darin Chung of BC Live Spot Prawns & Seafood. “We are changing things up this year in hopes that we can serve our customers better and continue to bring BC live spot prawns from our boats to everyone’s dinner table.”
Despite the rising operating costs, including an increase in licensing fees, and inflation on the cost of baits, fuel, labour, supplies and boat maintenance, BCLSPS aims to keep the prices reasonable for its customers. Walk-up sales at Ladner Wharf will be at market price, currently estimated to be between $25 and $30 per pound.
“We have no choice but to raise the prices in order to cover our costs,” adds Chung. "We appreciate the support from the local community so we will try our best to keep our prices as low as possible."
BCLSPS does not grade its spot prawns and the spot prawns are fishermen-direct. That means customers can expect to find large and XL spot prawns in their order, directly from the daily catch.
