- We will put your live spot prawns in plastic bags, and you can bring them home to prepare and serve.
- You may also bring a cooler with gel packs or ice-- just enough to lay the spot prawns over until you get home. You want to be careful when the ice melts because the live spot prawns will die if you submerge them into tap water.
- For large order deliveries, we recommend you having a cooler full of ice or gel packs ready so we can measure and put them in there for you.
- If you aren't going to eat your live spot prawns right away, you must take the heads off (twist and pull). When they die, they release an enzyme causing their bodies to get soft and mushy. Taking the heads off will prevent this
- After you remove the heads, give the tails a rinse and they can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days, or in the freezer for up to nine months.
- Don't throw the heads away! They make a rich and flavourful stock, or you can fry 'em up for an unconventional treat. It's always exciting to try something new, hey?
